Our Mission
BlockHeads is a collaborative community of emergency physicians dedicated to advancing ultrasound-guided regional analgesia in emergency medicine.
Regional anesthesia has the potential to transform pain management in the emergency department by providing targeted analgesia, reducing opioid use, and improving patient comfort. BlockHeads was created to help emergency physicians develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to incorporate Emergency-Directed Regional Analgesia (EDRA) into clinical practice.
Through education, collaborative research, and shared clinical experience, BlockHeads aims to expand the role of regional anesthesia in emergency care.
Education
BlockHeads provides hands-on workshops designed specifically for emergency physicians. Our courses emphasize practical ultrasound technique, anatomical understanding, and procedural confidence. Participants gain experience performing regional anesthesia techniques that can be integrated directly into emergency department practice.
Research
BlockHeads is committed to advancing the evidence base for regional anesthesia in emergency medicine. Through initiatives such as the NURVE Registry, we collaborate with physicians across institutions to better understand the safety, effectiveness, and clinical impact of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks in the emergency department.
Community
BlockHeads brings together emergency physicians interested in advancing regional anesthesia through education, research, and collaboration. By sharing experience, clinical insights, and educational resources, we aim to support the responsible expansion of regional analgesia in emergency medicine.
